1. CODE OF CONDUCT FOR OETD PRACTITIONERS
- All applicant shall accept and commit to abide by the AIOSHE Code of Practice and Conduct in relation to all work conducted as a trainer, assessor or moderator.
- The purpose of the Code of Practice shall be to:
- To define accepted and acceptable training, assessment and moderation behaviours;
- To promote high standards of training, assessment and moderation practice,
- To provide a benchmark for trainers/assessor/moderator to use for evaluating their own practices and behaviours; and
- To establish a framework for professional training/assessment/moderation behaviour and responsibilities.
- The applicant agrees to abide by the following provisions of the Code of Practice;
- THE PRACTITIONER’S RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The applicant agrees to plan and conduct training /assessments / moderation as outlined in the standards following AIOSHE and all other accepted standards,
- To assess candidates against the relevant unit standard/s and or qualification,
- The applicant shall be guided by the AIOSHE’s assessment plans, learner guides, tools and reporting format,
- The applicant shall train/assess/moderate in a fair and transparent manner, avoiding bias and addressing barriers to learning;
- The applicant shall give constructive written feedback to candidates.
- DECLARATION OF INTEREST BY THE PRACTITIONER:
- Whenever requested to train or assess learners or conduct moderation of assessments, the practitioner must immediately inform the management in confidence of the following;
- Whether they have (past or present) a family relationship with any of the learners,
- Whether they might have, or be seen to have, difficulty in training/ assessing any candidate objectively because of friendship or other obligation; and
- Any other actual or potential conflict of interest involving candidates/ assessors/ moderators or other relevant parties.
- QUALITY ASSURANCE AND STANDARDS
- The practitioner must always act professionally, accurately and in an unbiased manner and be responsible for their actions in all training, assessment and moderation processes.
- The practitioner must not accept any inducements, commission, gift or any other benefit (apart from their remuneration for work done), or respond to any threats or harassment from client organisations or individuals, their employees or any interested party, or keep silent about any colleagues who do so.
- The practitioner must report any irregularities, complaints or appeals and any attempts to threaten or bribe to the AIOSHE.
- The practitioner must not intentionally communicate false or misleading information that may compromise the integrity of any work done.
- The practitioner should keep relationships with candidates and all stakeholders in a professional basis.
- CONFIDENTIALTY
- Information gathered during training, assessment or moderation shall remain confidential and only shared with AIOSHE or any law enforcement agent only if required to do so and information about learners and their organisations should remain confidential.
- PRACTITIONER RELATIONSHIP WITH AIOSHE
- The practitioner’s registration by AIOSHE; constitutes a licence agreement to practice in relation to the code of practice and in your scope of registration;
- Any issues, complain or appeal by the practitioner shall be addressed to the AIOSHE CEO through the training quality assurance office.
- Any complain about the practitioner submitted to AIOSHE shall be investigated, and should the practitioner be in breach of this Code of Conduct, he/she may be de-registered, and no longer able to practice as an Assessor/Moderator.
- The applicant agrees that his/her registration information as a practitioner may be made public and published on the AIOSHE website.
- Should a practitioner believe that he or she has been unfairly refused registration, extension of registration, or been unfairly de-registered; the practitioner may lodge an appeal with the AIOSHE Training Quality Assurance Office.
